Picture frame manufactory in Husum
Since its foundation in 1980 by Joachim Tobien, the gallery has developed into a complex and exciting center for art, culture and crafts.
Their motto is "Art is fun" - because they are specialists in framing, gilding and art. Galerie des Nordens has been based in Husum for 40 years. With its gilding and framing workshop, it has made a name for itself beyond the borders of North Frisia. The range of services extends far beyond classic framing advice and production. The in-house master gilding workshop produces individual creations for your pictures.
There is always a lot to discover in the gallery: a diverse selection of paintings, sculptures and a large stock of original prints. High-quality art prints, postcards, picture books by renowned illustrators and artful gifts enrich the range. Five times a year, the manufactory invites visitors to large themed and solo exhibitions with works by nationally and internationally renowned artists.
Gilding workshops
The workshops will give you an insight into the fascination of gilding. Although no (gilding) master has yet fallen from the sky, you will produce your own gilded frame in one day under guidance: from chalk base to polished gold leaf. In a relaxed atmosphere, you will learn interesting facts, history and amusing facts about this traditional and special craft.
City of Husum
The port town of Husum is located on the North Sea, right on the doorstep of the unique UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea. Here you can experience the spectacle of high and low tide up close. But that's not the only thing that makes Husum so special. A great experience awaits guests in spring, when the famous Husum crocus blossom in front of Husum Castle shines in new splendor.
