Rendsburg

Watch the huge liners glide past on the Kiel Canal, stroll through Rendsburg’s Old Town or discover the sights of the town along the “blue line”. Rendsburg waits for you with its wide range of offers, and thanks to its location in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein, it’s the ideal starting point for tourism activities.

Exciting experiences on the water’s edge

What would Rendsburg be without the canal? Thanks to the canal, the former Danish fortress became an important inland seaport, and to this, it owes its imposing landmark: the railway bridge two-and-a-half kilometres in length, with the world-famous transporter bridge (currently out of service). By the way, it also hosts the longest and toughest rowing regatta in the world, attracting the world’s top eights to the canal every year.

The townscape of Rendsburg is dominated by the harmonious coexistence of modernity and nostalgia, by lovingly restored buildings and diverse shopping facilities. A ‘blue line’ leads from one sight to another. The diverse museums on offer and the lively cultural scene have an impact far into the region.

Located in the middle of the state, the town is an ideal starting point for tourist activities. Cycling on Ochsenweg and the Kiel Canal, rides in horse-drawn carriages to historic manors, boat trips along the canal and the Eider – it’s all possible.
