Since then, the track has been constantly being worked on, it has been extended, modernized. Railway stations, the vehicles, the route technology, but also the passengers and railwaymen have always adapted to the times during this long period of time. In the beginning a steam locomotive pulled the train, today it is modern electric motor coaches, which bring the travelers to their destination. After Westerland drives the regional express and the Intercity. Several times the march changed its routing. Some track was shut down and fell into oblivion. Stations became stops, some completely abandoned. Others were upgraded to IC stop. Many quality stations were shut down and dismantled. Initially, the points were set by hand, around 1900 came the mechanical signal boxes. Today, about half of the distance is controlled by three electronic signal boxes.
