In the Maritime Museum in Husum, you will find an extensive collection on all things maritime. There are explanatory texts on the exhibits in all rooms in four languages (German, Danish, English and French). The wreck of Uelvesbüll, known as the “Zuckerschiff” (Sugar Ship), is particularly impressive. The 400-year-old freight-carrying vessel was salvaged in 1996 in the mudflats of Uelvesbüll. It stands for the large number of ships that sank in the North Sea. The outside area includes historic barrels, ships parts and the over 100-year-old buoy tender “Hildegard” – a popular photo motif at Husum harbour with a view of the harbour mile.
