Plön
Plön is a recognised climatic health resort in an idyllic location. It has a population of 13,000, it is surrounded by 16 lakes of various sizes, and its town area is more than 2/3 covered in water. Water lovers are therefore bound to get their money’s worth in Plön – you can paddle, sail, swim, hire a pedalo, or take a trip on a motorboat here.
Sights of interest and places to visit
As well as the lake landscape, Plön offers an idyllic old town and a wonderful castle which is perched majestically over the town. The castle grounds are amongst the most beautiful in Schleswig-Holstein, and is worth a visit any time of year thanks to its shady avenues, castle garden and many historic buildings.
The attractions of Plön are rounded off by an interesting range of culinary offerings – from a lakeside fish bistro or a cafe and cocktail bar to a starred restaurant.
