Think global, eat local!
Fresh from the local area
When Schleswig-Holstein’s conservation charity sets the table for its ‘Gourmet State’ series of events in autumn every year, all the ingredients will come fresh from the local area. For two months you can enjoy culinary delights prepared with top-quality local ingredients in a number of restaurants. Schleswig-Holstein’s traditional cuisine and countryside is a pleasure for all the senses. Taste, smell, see and feel the quality of our natural products.
Conservation – taste the difference
Schleswig-Holstein’s cattle are reared in ‘wild pastures’ in their own herds. They mature slowly and naturally in an environment of careful, year-round pasture management. That’s how you get the finest beef, which is distinguished by delicate marbling and tender muscles. The meat is not only healthy, but also has a fine, strong aroma. You’re sure to taste the difference!
Cattle from protected sources
All accompaniments on the menus, be they vegetables, fruit, herbs, or cheeses, are delivered by selected local producers. Schleswig-Holstein is particularly proud of its main courses. Reared in environmentally protected ‘wild pastures’, beef from robust Galloways, Scottish Highlanders and Heck cattle are a rare pleasure for your palate.
