Quality of waters in Schleswig-Holstein
Summertime is bathing time, but it's also the time of algal bloom and the spread of algae. Schleswig-Holstein generally features very good quality waters. However, the temperatures of the waters rise significantly in the summer as a result of increased sunlight. For organisms – from bacteria through to algae – this means a natural period of growth, which is also supported by the small amount of water being exchanged due to low rainfall.
