Getting active on the beach and on the water
Beach volleyball
With its multitude of beaches, the land between the seas offers optimum conditions for the No. 1 summer fun sport.
As well as having the chance to show your own sporting prowess on the beach, there are often opportunities to watch over the shoulders of the pros. Many beach volleyball tournaments over the summer months capture the interest of beach-goers – and not just the sport enthusiasts.
Water parks
The numerous water parks in Schleswig-Holstein offer all kinds of attractions for young and old.
Whether it’s a subtropical paradise or spa and gym facilities – these parks have got fun, health and fitness covered. Even in bad weather, a water park is an ideal alternative for spending an enjoyable day of your holiday.
Diving
Over 40 dive sites await you along the Schleswig-Holstein coastlines.
Fascinating dives offer beginners and experienced divers the chance to see curiously-eroded parts of the seabed, ice-age rocks covered in beautiful marine vegetation and a startling array of marine life. Moreover, most of these dive sites can easily be reached from the beach.
Kitesurfing
Faster than windsurfing, speedier than surfing, great jumps even without big waves − that’s kitesurfing! - -
Kitesurfing, also called kiteboarding, was born out of windsurfing by riders using a steerable kite instead of a sail to propel them. So the rider stands on the board, which is similar to a surfboard, and is pulled along by the kite.
The combination of a lightweight board and a steerable kite allows kitesurfers to pull off daring jumps, and almost get into full flight. An incredible rush!
Water skiing and wakeboarding
Onto your skis or your board, hurtling round corners and sending waves crashing into the banks − that’s the beauty of water skiing and wakeboarding.
Get up some speed with the help of a motorboat or take one of the Schleswig-Holstein water ski lifts.
Windsurfing
Windsurfers consider Schleswig-Holstein to be amongst the most attractive holiday and leisure destinations. The North and Baltic seas and the many inland waters offer ideal practice sites for beginners as well as experts.
Every year, the world's best surfers put their skills to the test at Schleswig-Holstein’s beaches and compete for World Cup points.
