Enjoy refined cuisine from season to season
Age-old varieties of apples, appetisers of Salzauer Edelpilzen cheese with Boksee goat’s curd or poached pork filet on a red wine coulis with creamed ‘Swedish Blue’ potatoes – Schleswig-Holstein’s cuisine is as much a part of the state’s cultural heritage as its historical parks and gardens, its cottages and its stately homes.
The association ‘Local and Delicious – Gourmet Schleswig-Holstein’ (Feinheimisch - Genuss aus Schleswig-Holstein e.V.) and its members, who come from restaurants, hotels and the food production industry, intend to maintain the state’s culinary heritage and use top-quality local products wherever possible.
The association is determined to use fresh produce and to exclude pre-prepared ingredients. Thus the region’s seasonal harvest determines the menu. Go on a culinary trail around the land between the seas and discover its unique tastes and aromas.
Local and Delicious – Gourmet Schleswig-Holstein
There are currently 17 gastronomic businesses involved in the venture ‘Local and Delicious – Gourmet Schleswig-Holstein’ (Feinheimisch – Genuss aus Schleswig-Holstein e.V.). Each of them wish to share their love for the local food culture with their guests. Be it a starred restaurant, a charming country guest house or a relaxed beach-side bistro, you can be sure that at least 60% of the ingredients used come fresh from the local area.
The ‘Feinheimisch’ producers deliver delicious cheeses from cow, sheep and goat’s milk, an assortment of unusual and traditional fruit varieties, the finest meat from ethical sources, tender lamb from lush North-Frisian marshes, fish from ecologically sound environments and lots of other top-quality products.
Take a gourmet trip – offers for groups and individuals
Join us on a culinary exploration of Schleswig-Holstein’s unique tastes and aromas. Tours of the area lead groups and individual travellers to culinary highlights and fine catering at ‘Feinheimisch’ establishments. For example, an exploration of Bismarck’s homeland in Sachsenwald just outside of Hamburg.
Take a group trip to the region’s castles and stately homes and spoil yourself en route at ‘Feinheimisch’ restaurants with delicious dishes prepared with local products. Producers offer something for all the senses – for example, an apple grower who harvests over 120 varieties, or an organic mushroom grower at Salzau Castle.
