Regional specialities
The region has a mouth-watering culinary tradition. Freshly-caught fish, beech-smoked cottage ham, tender lowland lamb, fresh vegetables and gourmet cheeses are some of the regional products used in its gastronomy.
In order to further attract locals and visitors from near and far to gourmet Schleswig-Holstein, the Department of Agriculture has set up an initiative called ‘Schleswig-Holstein Tastes Great’ with partners from the farming, food and catering industries.
