Set sail: from the Wadden Sea to Helgoland
A sailing trip through the island and Halligen world of Schleswig-Holstein’s North Sea coast is a very special and unique experience.
The constant changing of the tides, of water and land, create a unique, rich maritime landscape.
Out on the sea, sailors can experience this nature at close quarters: numerous sandbanks are the home of common and grey seals. Seagulls accompany the white sails each and every mile. However, the tide calendar should remain the indispensable guide for the skipper.
Classic sailing trips or modern catamaran sailing – on the waves of the North Sea, every captain is bound to enjoy a unique sailing experience. Experienced sailors are also drawn to the high-sea island of Helgoland.
Premier sailing events
Skippers, amateur captains and those with an interest in sailing have known it for a long time, and all the ‘landlubbers’ can experience it for themselves: Schleswig-Holstein is one of the most attractive regions for world-famous sailing events.
Exclusive events and colourful harbour festivals create a unique maritime atmosphere along the North Sea and Baltic coasts from spring to autumn.
The largest is the Kiel Week, which attracts windjammers and cruise liners into the Kiel Fjord. On the periphery, a broad cultural programme is offered, accompanied by sailing competitions, many festivities and the opportunity to accompany a sailing crew.
